In my eyes, Teahupoo has to be the most beautiful wave in the world. Its size and the thickness of its lip makes it also one of the most lethal. But to understand the uniqueness of this wave, it has to be seen in its setting. This image was taken from a small fishing boat driven by Emile, a local fisherman, who has the expertise necessary to manoeuvre in the potentially dangerous channel leading through the pass. I used a medium-format panoramic camera to capture all the detail and perfection of the scene.
